It was another successful day at Keeneland for Brendan Walsh Racing. The team produced two winners and we couldn’t be happier for their winning connections.
Owner Scott Heider was on hand to witness his talented filly Fancy (Justify x Lacadena) score in Allowance company in the sixth race. The four-year-old filly had a nice start and into stride quickly under jockey Tyler Gaffalione. She established a lovely rhythm on the front end to lead the field through moderate fractions down the backstretch and around the far turn. Fancy quickened towards home and saw off an outside opponent to win the One and One Sixteenth Mile event. Brendan Walsh Racing is pleased Scott Heider was on the grounds for the win – congratulations to all involved with this progressive filly.

David of Athens (Nyquist x Athens Queen) may have been forgotten in the betting but he certainly left a lasting impression on debut! The two-year-old colt was a consummate professional in his first start over seven furlongs. He broke well and established position in mid-pack behind a hot early pace through the early stages of running. The colt travelled nicely in behind the leaders around the far turn when jockey Tyler Gaffalione tipped him out for a stretch fun. David of Athens continued to find the finish to win the Maiden Special Weight event by three quarters of a length. This colt looks like he’ll improve with more ground and we look forward to producing him moving forward! Congratulations to winning owners Ike and Dawn Thrash and all those connected with this lovely colt.
