Four Stakes Wins In One Day for Brendan Walsh Racing

It was a phenomenal day of results for Brendan Walsh Racing today. The team sent out two Graded Stakes winners and two Stakes winners between Gulfstream Park and Fair Grounds Race Course.

Vasy (IRE) (Space Blues (IRE) x Beautiful Ending (GB)) kicked off the day with a neck victory in the Colonel Liam Stakes at Gulfstream Park. The three-year-old colt was last seen breaking his Maiden at Gulfstream in January and took a step forward this afternoon in Stakes company. The colt stalked the pace on the rail for most of the running before tipping out in the straight to find the finish. He showed a good turn of foot to secure his first Stakes victory. Congratulations to Owner JDT Racing LLC.

Lion Lake (IRE) (Dark Angel (IRE) x Urjuwaan (GB)) made her debut in Graded Stakes company a winning one with a victory in the Grade Three Herecomesthebride Stakes. The filly improved from her Maiden victory last out to score over this salty field. Lion Lake (IRE) established a good position on the rail just behind the leaders through most of the running. The filly galloped along in a lovely rhythm before being asked to quicken as the field turned for home. Lion Lake (IRE) had plenty of work to do to run down the 3-5 favorite, but kept finding the finish to spring an upset victory by a head on the wire. Congratulations to Owner Emcee Stable, LLC and everyone associated with this exciting filly!

Lush Lips (GB) (Ten Sovereigns (IRE) x Lamyaa (GB)) returned to the Winners’ Circle in the Grade Three Honey Fox Stakes. The filly stretched her win streak to three with this victory, after a remarkable Autumn season. Lush Lips (GB) was very much the best in this race as she showed her customary turn of foot down the stretch to score by three quarters of a length on the wire. The filly appears to have continued to improve over the Winter and we look forward to an exciting Spring with her this year. Congratulations to Owner Dixiana Farms LLC and all others associated with this stable favorite.

Our final victory on the day was Black Hornet (Essential Quality x Brattata) in the Black Gold Stakes at Fair Grounds Race Course. The three-year-old colt showed good improvement with a surface change in his last race, where he broke his Maiden on the turf over the same track and trip. He certainly stepped forward from that effort to secure the victory in his Black Type Debut. Black Hornet secured by a decisive one and one quarter lengths on the wire. We are pleased with this effort and look forward to seeing him continue to progress this Spring. Congratulations to Owner Calumet Farm.
