David Of Athens (Nyquist x Athens Queen) returned to the Winners’ Circle in his second start this year. The three-year-old colt was not disgraced in his first run this campaign and took plenty away from the effort.
Under jockey Tyler Gaffalione, the colt broke well and traveled like the winner for the entirety of this one mile affair. David Of Athens bowled along confidently despite pressure from an inside opponent and began to quicken through the final turn. Tyler asked the colt to find the finish as the field turned for home and David Of Athens obliged to open up by four lengths with a furlong left to run. The colt romped across the finish an emphatic seven and a quarter length victor. We have always held this talented colt in high regard and we look forward to continuing to watch him improve through the summer.
