Wondrous (Uncle Mo X Velvety) delivered an emphatic performance for Godolphin when travelling to Laurel Park to capture the Primonetta Stakes in impressive fashion.
Although the race attracted a compact field of four runners, the six-furlong contest was run at a strong tempo from the outset. Wondrous was content to settle at the rear of the field in fourth on the outside, travelling comfortably as the leaders ensured an honest pace throughout the early stages.
Approaching the turn for home, she began to edge into contention before swinging wide into the home stretch. Once asked to quicken, she produced an impressive turn of foot, surging clear of her rivals and rapidly opening up daylight. Inside the final furlong, the result was never in doubt as Wondrous powered away to score by four lengths in commanding style under a great ride from Angel Cruz.
