Mashallah delivered an impressive performance to break through at the allowance level on Saratoga’s opening weekend, returning to sprinting in style with a dominant first-level allowance victory.
The daughter of Maxfield was sharp from the gates under Tyler Gaffalione and quickly secured an ideal stalking position just behind the leading pair through the early stages. Travelling strongly throughout, Mashallah always appeared to be going best as the field approached the home turn.
When asked for her effort turning for home, the progressive filly swept effortlessly past the leaders and quickly put the race to bed, opening up an emphatic five-length advantage in the stretch. Gaffalione was able to keep things straightforward late on as Mashallah coasted to the wire for a cosy and visually impressive success.
The return to sprinting proved to play perfectly to her strengths, and this performance suggested there could be plenty more to come from the exciting Maxfield filly.
Congratulations to her owners, JR Ranch, who look to have a very promising filly on their hands.
