Somethinabouther showed plenty of determination to land her second-level allowance at Churchill Downs, producing another gritty performance to score over a sloppy track for owners X Men Racing.
The daughter of Mendelssohn handled the testing conditions with ease, breaking professionally from the gate before quickly settling into a perfect stalking position just behind the early leader. Travelling strongly throughout, Tyler Gaffalione always had the filly moving comfortably as she bided her time waiting to make her challenge.
Approaching the three-eighths pole, Somethinabouther swept alongside the pacemaker before taking command, opening up impressively as the field turned for home. She continued to respond willingly to every cue from Gaffalione, finding more each time she was asked and looking to have the race firmly in her grasp.
Despite being chased down late in the stretch, Somethinabouther showed tremendous heart, digging deep to repel their advances and hold on gamely to score by just over a length.
It was another deserved success for the progressive filly, whose toughness and consistency continue to shine through. Congratulations go to X Men Racing, Madaket Stables and SF Racing on another well-earned victory.
