Brendan Walsh Racing Achieves 800th Career Victory

A four win day provided Brendan Walsh Racing with an exciting new milestone of 800 career victories. With winners in Woodbine, Ellis Park and Colonial Downs, it was a busy but successful day of racing for the team.

Contrary (Medaglia D’Oro x Antithesis) was the first to the Winner’s Circle at Ellis Park in Maiden Special Weight company. The three-year-old Godolphin homebred was making her first start in this six and a half furlong contest but didn’t let lack of race experience keep her from reeling in her opponents late. The filly broke a step slow and took a few steps to find her stride before she subsequently established position in midfield down the backstretch. Jockey Edgar Morales asked her to improve her position as the field entered the far turn and the filly obliged willingly. Despite being forced to travel wide as the field straightened for home, Contrary let down and found the finish for a one length win. Congratulations to Owner/Breeder Godolphin.

Milliat (IRE) (Kodiac (GB) x Silent Confession (IRE)) returned to winning form at Woodbine in her second start this year. The filly was last seen running a strong second at Laurel Park after a bit of a layoff and took much needed race fitness from that effort. Milliat (IRE) broke well and settled into rhythm behind a quick pace through the first quarter mile. She remained towards the back of the field until she was angled out by jockey Sahin Civaci at the top of the straight. Milliat (IRE) showed a good turn of foot to wear down a tough inner rival to score by a neck on the line. Congratulations to winning Owner Qatar Racing.

Our third winner of the day was the ultra impressive Z Z’s (McKinzie x Zarmant) at Ellis Park. The filly was an emphatic five length winner of this five and a half furlong Maiden Special Weight on the turf. Z Z’s gave her opponents no chance as she broke fast, led the field through scintillating early fractions and continued to find more for jockey Tyler Gaffalione down the stretch. This two-year-old filly has yet to put a foot wrong since entering our stable and we look forward to seeing her improve with added race fitness and experience under her belt. Congratulations to winning Owners Gainesway Stable and Andrew Rosen, as well as all others connected with this speedy filly.

The stable reached 800 wins with Summer Vibes’ (Good Magic x Summer Sweet) success in the last race at Colonial Downs. The three-year-old gelding appreciated a reprieve in class, dropping from Maiden Special Weight company to Maiden Claiming in this one and one eighth mile turf event. Summer Vibes rated just behind the leaders for most of the running before jockey Ben Curtis asked him to quicken down the straight for a half length victory. Congratulations to winning Owner Flying Dutchmen Breeding and Racing and good luck to the new connections.
