Brendan Walsh Racing Double at Keeneland

Gin Gin (Hightail x Before You Know It) and Expensive Queen (IRE) (Lope De Vega (IRE) x Witches Brew (IRE)) both returned to form in their first start for Brendan Walsh Racing.

Gin Gin was the feature race winner of the day, with a massive win in the Grade 3 Baird Doubledogdare Stakes. The four-year-old filly last won at Aqueduct in January 2024 and was overlooked by the market despite looking an absolute picture in the paddock. Gin Gin left the gate at 38-1 odds but traveled strongly throughout the mile and a sixteenth dirt race. The filly maintained second position, just behind the leader, throughout much of the running. She traveled in facile fashion to take the lead as the field traveled into the far turn and repelled a bid from an outside opponent upon straightening. Gin Gin quickened to cross the finish a five and one quarter length victor of the Grade Three event. We couldn’t be more pleased to secure this victory for Owner Calumet Farm and we certainly look forward to what else this improving filly can achieve moving forward.

Expensive Queen (IRE) followed up her stablemate’s success with a neck victory in her debut over American turf. The filly settled off the pace after being bumped at the start but established a good gallop for jockey Luis Saez. She bowled along comfortably in mid pack as the leaders set a quick early pace. Expensive Queen (IRE) patiently waited for running room as the field ran through the far turn and Luis Saez tipped her outside at the top of the straight. The filly showed a lightning turn of foot to get up just in time to win by a neck on the wire. Congratulations to winning Owner Farfellow Farm and all others associated with this exciting filly.
