It was a memorable afternoon at Gulfstream Park on March 28th, saddling an impressive stakes double courtesy of Sweet Rebecca (American Pharaoh X Sweet N Discreet) and Immortalised (Romanised X Notte d’Oro), who both produced determined performances to land black-type success in style.
Sweet Rebecca struck first in the Sand Springs Stakes with a polished and professional display under Tyler Gaffalione for owners Resolute Racing. Breaking smartly from the gates, she quickly secured a perfect position in third along the rail while travelling keenly through the early stages. Turning for home, she continued to travel strongly before finding a seam on the inside entering the straight. Once angled through, Sweet Rebecca quickened impressively to take command and went on to score cosily, confirming her class with a smooth and authoritative victory.
Later on the card, Immortalised completed the double for the team with a courageous success in the Cutler Bay Stakes under Hall of Fame rider John Velazquez for owners Feld Family Racing and Starry Night Racing. Breaking alertly, he settled beautifully in second position on the rail behind the early pace. As the tempo increased approaching the three-eighths pole, Immortalised travelled strongly and, much like his stablemate earlier in the day, found his way up the inside turning for home. From there, he showed tremendous determination and heart, battling gamely to the line to prevail narrowly in an exciting finish.
Congratulations to all connections on a successful day and exciting futures ahead.
