Easy Wind (Munnings x La Luna Latte) prevailed by a head in an Auction Maiden at Ellis Park today. The two-year-old colt was a consummate professional throughout the running of this five and a half furlong turf event. He broke well and settled into a good rhythm behind a quick early pace. Easy Wind had to swing five wide around through the final turn to find running room under jockey Edgar Morales. The colt showed good tenacity to see off an inside opponent and secure the victory by a head on the wire. Easy Wind has yet to put a foot wrong since he has entered the stable and we look forward to seeing how he improves with valuable race experience under his belt. Congratulations to winning owners Pocket Aces Racing.
Spying (Gun Runner x Baby Go Far (BRZ)) provided the team with a second winner on the day under jockey Tyler Gaffalione. Last seen when she won a Maiden Special Weight as Presque Isle Downs, the filly carried that momentum forward into this one mile affair. She broke well but took a few strides to find her feet and settled in the middle of the field through the early stages of running. Spying galloped along willingly through the backstretch and into the final turn to advance into fourth position. As the field turned for home, Tyler tipped the filly out and she let down willingly to find the finish. She took the lead with just under a sixteenth of a mile left to run and crossed the finish a one length winner. Congratulations to owners Stonecrest Farm and Mary Cecil and all others associated with this progressive filly.
