Brendan Walsh Racing debuted two impressive winners at Ellis Park on Saturday August 10th 2024.
First up was Civetta (Into Mischief x Sentiero Italia), a very exciting filly with a pedigree Brendan knows well. The two-year-old half sister to Multiple Grade One Winner Santin came into the Maiden Special Weight contest well respected by the stable and certainly didn’t disappoint.
The filly broke sharply and contested a blistering pace during the five and a half furlong contest. She continued to chase the lead down the stretch and stayed on tenaciously to score by a neck for jockey Luan Machado. Civetta appears to be a very promising filly and we hope she can fill some very big shoes left by her half brother Santin.
Blue Coast (Omaha Beach x High Performer) was not to be overshadowed and secured an impressive victory in an Auction Maiden. The colt broke sharply and took the early lead under jockey Luan Machado. Blue Coast faced relentless pressure on his outside and posted scintillating early fractions for a one mile event. Unfazed by the pressure, the colt continued to quicken down the straight to secure a half length victory.
With such a tough performance first up, we are very excited to see how this two-year-old colt improves with added race fitness and experience under his belt.
