Pondering (Hard Spun x Always Thinking) showed a decisive turn of foot to win the Kentucky Downs Preview Ladies Turf Sprint Stakes at Ellis Park today. The penny has certainly dropped for this well bred filly and we couldn’t be more pleased for her to gain Black Type.
The three-year-old filly broke well but took a few steps to find her feet and settled into stride at the back of the field. Jockey Tyler Gaffalione allowed the filly to find a good rhythm into the far turn before he asked her to begin to quicken when the field turned for home. Pondering unleashed a devastating turn of foot to circle the field and cross the finish a half length winner.
