San Siro (Classic Empire x Catenaria) returned to the races in impressive fashion at the Fair Grounds. The four-year-old gelding left no doubts in this mile and a sixteenth Allowance Optional Claiming event as he ran away from the field to win by over four lengths.
Under jockey Edgar Morales, San Siro broke slightly outward but got into stride quickly and established position on the rail just behind the leaders. The gelding galloped along in a lovely rhythm through the middle stages of running. Despite being full of run, San Siro had to be patient around the far turn as he faced a bit of traffic on the rail. Upon straightening, Edgar managed to find a hole on the inside and asked the gelding to let down and find the finish. San Siro unleashed an impressive turn of foot to fly home and win by daylight on the wire.
We couldn’t be happier for this gelding’s large ownership group and we look forward to seeing what he can achieve this Spring. Congratulations to everyone involved and thank you Edgar for a fantastic ride.
