Brendan Walsh Racing secured a shared Trainer’s Title at the lucrative Kentucky Downs meeting with two winners on the final day of racing. This was Brendan’s third Trainer’s Title in as many years at Kentucky Downs. Overall it was an exceptional meet with six wins, a 54% win/place/show and over $1.8 million in prizemoney to owners.
Our first winner of the day was Godolphin’s homebred two-year-old colt Fleming (More Than Ready x Robillard). The colt was third in his debut start at Ellis Park and demonstrated that he took plenty away from that run today. Fleming broke on top and found a nice rhythm just behind the leaders in third position as the field raced down the hill to the final turn. The colt made a wide move as they turned down the stretch to take the lead under steady urging from jockey Tyler Gaffalione. Fleming repelled a late bit from an outside opponent to break his maiden by a neck.

Our final winner of the meet was two-year-old filly Isle of Capri (Munnings x Timely). The filly had been showing plenty of promise in the mornings and we are pleased she put her best foot forward on raceday. Isle of Capri broke sharply and traveled like the winner throughout the running of the six and a half furlong event. The filly led from post to post to score by a decisive four lengths. Congratulations to all the winning connections. We certainly look forward to what this talented filly has in store this Autumn!
